DESCRIPTION
DESIGN GOAL
Strijp-S will be transformed into an interactive environment where innovation, creativity and tactile experiences play a fundamental role. Through tangible and physical experiences, the art installation will shift the way people interact both with those around them and with the surroundings. Source of inspiration are the urban playgrounds designed by the Dutch architect Aldo van Eyck in Amsterdam.
EMBEDDED LIGHT
In the technological advanced world where we live nowadays,There is a need to explore and redefine the role that light plays in our daily life.Imbue with historical references of the old Philips factory, the art piece will investigate the future scenarios of public lighting exploring the boundaries between body, light and space. In this vision, the public lighting is not perceived anymore as a simple light bulb but as an organic element of the physical space, a living extension of the human being.
MERGE BETWEEN ARTWORK AND FUNCION LIGHTING
Reconfiguring the physical space, the traditional artistic and creative essence of the art piece will be enriched with the functional meaning that the installation aims to achieve. The artwork will seduce, surprise and play with the audience, increasing safety and security at Strijp-S.
TYPOLPGY
In order to enrich the spatial perception of Strijp-S, the design proposal will meaningful affect the shape of the public space covering a wide area. Therefore we will use different design typologies in different public areas such as:
1. Terras around the Klokgebouw
2. Boulevard of the pedestrian areas
3. Public spaces between the building in the Driehoek .
